Tonto Natural Bridge State Park
Just off State Route 87 outside of Payson, Tonto Natural Bridge is a natural arch that is believed to be the largest natural travertine bridge in the world. Most natural arches are sandstone or limestone, so this geologic formation is a rarity. Hike the trails, see the waterfall, and photograph animals, birds, and insects.
Tonto Creek Fish Hatchery
Trout cannot reproduce in lakes or ponds because they require cold clear-running perennial streams. Thus, most trout in Arizona are stocked from a hatchery like this one. Come see how it’s done. It’s fascinating! A worthwhile trip for adults and youngsters alike.
